I've heard some conflicting reports. I was sent mail in 1995 telling me that Gerry McGee had died. Another person told me that it's spelled "McGhee" and he was still around. The most recent report (and spelling) comes from Henry Kaiser:
Gerry McGeehee before Doug Moon. Very important as he brought in the cajun approach to plucking stings with the pick and fingerpicks that became such an essential feature of the Magic Band guitar style. Gerry, of course went on to bigger things as a member of Linda Ronstadt's band and is presently in The Ventures. Someone should go to a Ventures gig and interview him about his MB days. He' a very nice man.
So, if anyone gets to walk, don't run (ha!) to a Ventures concert, please tell me who you meet.
